The 10 Most Breathtaking Locations In Asia

Asia is the world’s largest and most populated continent, so it is perhaps unsurprising that it is also home to some of the most stunning locations on the planet. The continent is steeped in history and tradition and this is reflected in its landscape and architecture. Whether it’s an ancient monastery at the top of a mountain in Bhutan or a stunning view across a bay in Vietnam, Asia is home to some incredible sights. The following are ten of the very best. Dig out your passport, because the following photos are going to make you want to head East!

Daehan Dawon, South Korea

If you enjoy a good view over a cup of tea then Daehan Dawon in South Korea is your dream location. The lush green fields are actually a tea plantation that provides over 40% of the country’s green tea. Even if tea’s not your beverage of choice, just look at that view!

Danxia Landform, China

At first glance you’d be forgiven for thinking that the Danxia Landform is a man-made structure but the incredible colours in the rock formations are actually created from the sandstone and natural erosion of the rock. Danxia isn’t just one of the most stunning places in Asia but the whole world!

Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

While a great number of bays could be described as picturesque, Ha Long Bay in Vietnam is a little bit special. The bay has over 3,000 separate islands jutting out from the sea and is classed as a World Heritage site. The name translates as ‘where the dragon descends into the sea’ and folklore has it that the tiny islands and towering limestone pillars were actually created by a huge mountain dragon. True or not, there is no denying the sheer beauty of Ha Long Bay.

Puerto Princesa Underground River, Philippines

The Puerto Princesca Underground River is one of Asia’s hidden gems and the cave system actually stretches an incredible 24km (15 miles) underground. The river itself can be followed for 8.2km (5 miles) and takes visitors through a number of stunning caverns and chambers.

Mount Fuji, Japan

Mount Fuji may be one of the most recognisable mountains in the world but there is a reason for that: it’s absolutely stunning. The snow-capped mountain top creates a beautiful vista from nearby Tokyo, while the cherry blossom in the spring provides a breathtaking contrast.

The Great Wall Of China, China

It may seem a bit of an obvious choice to include the Great Wall of China on this list but the incredible structure is just too impressive to leave off. The wall dates all the way back to the 7th century and all the sections combined stretch over 13,000 miles! It is without doubt one of Asia’s most breathtaking locations.

Angkor Archaeological Park, Cambodia

Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world and is one of Asia’s most stunning locations. The entire site measures 162.6 hectares (1.62 million sq metres) but the ancient temple at its centre is the real attraction and is Cambodia’s number one tourist destination.

Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Bhutan

While Asia is hardly short on monasteries, the Tiger’s Nest (or Taktsang) Monastery is a little bit special due to its location. The ancient building is perched on the side of a cliff face, some 3,000 ft above the Paro valley below. Even if Buddhism isn’t your thing, the view alone is worth the trip.

The Ancient City of Bagan, Burma

The city of Bagan in Burma combines both history and beauty. It is believed the ancient city dates all the way back to the 9th century and the breathtaking landscape and stunning architecture make Bagan one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia.

Banaue rice terraces, Philippines

You know that Banaue is a pretty special place when it is often referred to as the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World.’ The rice terraces actually date back over 2,000 years and were carved into the mountain-sides by ‘ancestors of the indigenous people’. The terraces are still used today, although parts of the site are now more catered towards tourism.
