Switzerland To Build ‘Vertical Forest’ With Over 100 Trees

Plans have been unveiled to build a ‘vertical forest’ tower block in Switzerland that give a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘concrete jungle.’ The eco-friendly tower block has been designed by Italian architect Stefano Boeri and will be built in the Swiss city of Lausanne in 2017. The 36-storey block of apartments will feature over 100 trees, 6,000 shrubs and 18,000 plants and will provide stunning views across the nearby lake and mountains. It is hoped the vertical forest will also attract a number of different species of birds to the area and there are even future plans to build a forest city, with every building covered in greenery. Whether the eco-friendly decor is to everyone’s taste is questionable, but it’s certainly a unique way to brighten up the exterior of buildings!
