What Is The Breath-taking ‘Fly Geyser’ in Nevada?

At first glance you’d be forgiven for thinking that the Fly Geyser in Nevada, USA, was a creature from another planet but this incredible structure is actually a man-made geothermal geyser. The structure was actually accidentally created due to well drilling in 1964, while searching for sources of geothermal energy. As the well was not capped correctly at the time, it allowed dissolved minerals to rise to the surface and start to create the beautiful geyser. Over the years the structure has grown in size and the thermophilic algae in the water has led to the geyser taking on its incredible colours. Water is still constantly released through the top of the geyser, creating a stunning and natural fountain effect.
