If you’re ever looking for the perfect venue for a horror movie then Chateau de Noisy in Celles, Belgium is tailored made. The spooky looking gothic castle dates back to 1866 and is said to have once housed Hitler himself. After the Second World War, the Chateau was used as an orphanage all the way up to the 1980’s but has stood eerily empty since 1991. The last two-and-a-half decades have not been kind to the castle and it now sits in a derelict state inside, with the grounds overgrown on the outside. The municipality of Celles have offered to take over the running of the chateau but the owners have always refused, meaning Chateau de Noisy is now arguably Europe’s grandest and spookiest abandoned building.
