Time to see the world!

Welcome To Boryeong: The Muckiest Festival On Earth

Once a year, the residents of the South Korean town of Boryeong have the perfect excuse to act like children and get absolutely filthy. Since 1998, the town has held an annual mud festival in order to promote the rich minerals and therapeutic qualities found in the Boryeong mud flats. The festival lasts two weeks and sees truck loads of mud transported to Daecheon beach, in order to create ‘Mud Experience Land’ where people can literally throw themselves into giant pools of mud. The festival now attracts visitors from all over the world and, by 2007, it is believed around 2.2 million tourists had visited Boryeong to take part – who knew mud was so popular!
